Andrew has practical experience in developing and executing social
media campaigns, as well as constructing mobile advertising networks, and
engages directly with large consumer brands as well as leading advertising
agencies to design and deliver compelling social media propositions to their
clients.
Andrew’s commercial experience comes as a result of running Australia’s
largest mobile property website, PropertyLook, as well as holding senior
marketing and business development roles with Australian companies Telstra and
Optus.
From 1995, Andrew held a number of technical roles with Australian
number 2 operator Optus before moving into a Marketing role as Product
Development Manager for high speed data products. Andrew held the position
of Business Development Manager for Infrastructure Investment and Development
with Optus before leaving to join Telstra Corporation.
In 1998, Andrew was appointed National Manager for Business Development
in the Marketing area of Telstra’s Business Solutions group, and in 2000, he was
responsible for the development of online vertical market opportunities across
Telstra’s Retail Services group.
In 2001, Andrew was appointed CEO and General Manager of PropertyLook
and took the company from a standing start to become the leading commercial
property website in Australia. In 2006, the company was sold to News
Corporation’s realestate.com.au for $A9.05M.
In 2003, Andrew joined Legion Interactive as General Manager of their
business messaging group and was responsible for developing a new business unit
focused on the corporate messaging market.
Between 2004 and 2008, he was General Manager of leading mobile
location provider, Seeker Wireless. In 2006, Andrew relocated from
Sydney to open their London office and was quickly able to attract the attention
of the world’s largest mobile operators in the UK and Europe, leading to the
signing of a number of contracts with companies such as Vodafone.
More recently, Andrew has consulted in the mobile advertising and
digital space, providing thought leadership to companies looking to harness the
power of mobile and social networks.
Andrew holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology, Sydney with sub-majors in eBusiness and Marketing, and Master’s Degree in Information Technology & Telecommunications from the University of South Australia. Andrew also developed a new eBusiness course for the Master of Business and Technology (MBT) course presented by the University of New South Wales.
Andrew has made significant contributions to the charities he has been involved with, and developed a promotional video to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s award in Australia, which was shown during a Gala Dinner in November 2002, attended by HRH The Earl of Wessex.
Prior to his move to London, Andrew was the Technology Director of the Rotary Club of Sydney, Australia’s largest and most prestigious Rotary club, and sat on the board of the club from 2001 - 2005. In 2006, he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Sydney in recognition of his service to the club and the community.
From September 2003 to September 2006, Andrew was a Board Member of the peak volunteer body, Volunteering NSW, and was also a board member of the Friends of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Australia.
Currently he is writing a book on twitter, focusing on the
business benefits from this new social medium due for release internationally in
2010 through Kogan Page.
